Samplesode 48: Best Beer in the World?

There is just too much beer in the world to only taste twice a month. In the spirit of more is better the Blind Tiger podcast team has decided to add samplesodes to the podcast lineup. These mini-episodes will feature only tastings of hopefully unique or exotic beer, often on location to keep your Blind Tiger intake at a more regular interval.

This week the Blind Tiger Podcast crew was joined by friends from beyond the Atlantic. Our friends Loz Pawley and Rebecca Powell were in town visiting family and they brought with them quite possibly the greatest gift an European beer nerd can give an American beer nerd. And what might that be? Well only arguably the best beer in the world, Westvleteren XII. This Belgian Quad is brewed by the monk's at Westvleteren Abbey in the Trappist tradition of brewing. Focusing more on serving God than brewing beer this 10% ABV Belgian Quad is so good that it makes me considering joining the hermitage in deference to the Lord far more than I should.

We all sat down to share the two bottles of this unrivaled Belgian beer. While the specifics of our opinion are in the episode it is pretty obvious that this beer deserves the top spot on most beer lists. While we were all a little giddy with excitement to taste it and all a little blown away by the flavors in our mouths once the liquid hit our tongues the overall assessment was world class.

If you have the opportunity to try it you should. Let no rock go unturned in an effort to try this one.

Loz and Becky Photo They fit right in with us...
